In disaster control, fast, uncomplicated and effective action is essential. This requires technology that can be relied upon. Many local groups of the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), fire brigades and plant fire brigades rely on mobile high-performance pumps from Börger, which are driven by Perkins engines.
Börger GmbH has been manufacturing high-quality rotary lobe pumps for more than 35 years. The positive displacement pumps are available in 25 sizes with flow rates between 1 and 1,450 m²/h. Each pump is manufactured in a modular system. Each pump is configured individually for the respective application using the modular principle. This means that the pumps can be used in almost all branches of industry, in municipal and environmental technology, on the high seas or in the agricultural sector.
The space-saving design, the problem-free pumping in snore mode, the self-priming up to 8 metres without vacuum device and the possibility to operate a Börger rotary lobe pump with different drive options make the pump the ideal mobile pump. It does not matter whether it is used as a portable hand truck pump or a high-performance pump on a truck trailer — the design and manufacture is carried out by Börger “from a single source”, from the base frame to the pump technology and the control technology.
Especially for the completely self-sufficient high-performance pumps, Börger relies on Perkins engines. This is also the case with the high-performance pump of the plant fire brigade of a chemical company.
High performance pump of a plant fire brigade
The “chemical giant” has installed its own plant fire brigade at a German site. To ensure the external supply of extinguishing water for feeding vehicles, sprinkler systems and fire throwers, the plant fire brigade has purchased a mobile Börger high-performance pump.
The pump is mounted on a 5.5 t truck trailer and is driven by a Perkins® 1204F-E44TTA IOPU engine. Thanks to the 129 kW powerful engine with a torque of 750 Nm, the pump delivers up to 192 m3/h. The fuel tank is integrated into the base frame of the pump to save space. In case of fire, the pump feeds the fire engines with water from a fire water tank or the nearby river.
Mobile flood pump
“Perkins engines are absolutely reliable and are also used in our pumps for flood fighting. In addition to THW task forces and fire brigades, also numerous water associations rely on the reliable Börger-Perkins combination. The easy-to-maintain pumps with flow rates of up to 1,450 m3/h are used here. The high-performance pumps are mounted on trailers and are driven by Perkins engines. In case of flooding, the pump is used at strategically important locations and protects residential areas from flooding,” says Anne Börger-Olthoff, managing director of Börger GmbH. “It is not only the reliability of the motors that is important to us. We can now look back on several years of trusting cooperation with our Perkins distributor BU Power Systems.”
