The Perkins 4012‑46TAG Series family, part of the trusted 4000 Series, is designed to deliver uncompromising performance, efficiency and reliability in stationary power generation. As a 12‑cylinder diesel engine with a displacement of 46 litres, it combines a compact footprint with high power density and is well suited for both prime and standby generator applications.
With a typical electrical output ranging from 1000 to 1880 kVA, the engine offers the flexibility to meet a wide range of requirements in industrial, commercial and mission-critical environments. Its turbocharged air-to-air charge cooling system ensures effective combustion and consistent power delivery at 1500 or 1800 rpm.
Featuring four valves per cylinder the 4012‑46TAG Series family optimizes airflow and combustion, delivering excellent fuel efficiency and economical operation.Common components across the 4000 Series simplify maintenance and parts handling, supporting lower running costs and enhanced serviceability.
Engineered for durability and built to perform under pressure, the 4012‑46TAG Series family offers a robust design, high power-to-size ratio and dependable operation. Combined with Perkins’ global service support, this engine delivers maximum uptime and a low total cost of ownership.
In short, the Perkins 4012‑46TAG Series family represents strong, reliable performance in demanding environments – designed for efficiency, built to last.
Powering the Project – with the Perkins 4012‑46TAG and CGM
After presenting the powerful Perkins 4012‑46TAG Series family – a benchmark for reliability in power generation – we’re proud to share how CGM has successfully integrated this engine into a mission-critical application.
CGM is a leading manufacturer of high-quality gensets for industrial, agricultural and emergency power use. With decades of expertise and a strong engineering focus, the company delivers tailor-made energy solutions designed to perform under pressure.
As part of a recent data centre project in Italy, CGM supplied two continuous power gensets, each rated at 1700 kVA. Powered by a 4012–46TAG3A Perkins engines, equipped with MECCALTE alternators and ComAp AMF 25 controllers, the sets feature an 8,000 litre belly tank – the first in Italy with REI120 fire resistance certification using calcium silicate.
“Choosing Perkins means relying on a partner that combines experience, quality and service. Short lead times ensure firm deadlines and maximum operational efficiency, while the DCP certificate ensures high standards and compliance with international regulations regarding Data Centres. Added to all this is the reliability of a globally recognized brand, synonymous with consistent performance and professional support. With Perkins, choose the safety of a brand that doesn’t disappoint.”
