BU Pow­er Sys­tems offers excit­ing train­ing for Unit­ed Rentals technicians

As a Perkins dis­trib­u­tor in 18 coun­tries, BU Pow­er Sys­tems trains tech­ni­cians from major cus­tomers and OEMs with whom it coop­er­ates close­ly to ensure the smooth oper­a­tion of Perkins engines in cus­tomer appli­ca­tions in the long term. After all, cus­tomer sat­is­fac­tion does not end with the pur­chase of a Perkins engine. With this in mind, ser­vice tech­ni­cians from Unit­ed Rentals com­plet­ed an excit­ing train­ing course at the BU Pow­er Sys­tems‘ train­ing cen­tre this week: it was about Perkins engines that are used in Pio­neer pumps rent­ed from Unit­ed Rentals. The cus­tomer uses Perkins 1204J-E44TTA, 404D-22T and 403J-017 engines, among oth­ers, in its var­i­ous Pio­neer pumps.

In order to make the train­ing as effi­cient and prac­ti­cal as pos­si­ble, the cus­tomer pro­vid­ed us with a Pio­neer pump weigh­ing 3.8 tonnes (!).

In addi­tion to the basics regard­ing diesel engines and emis­sions stan­dards, the train­ing also includ­ed the­o­ret­i­cal and prac­ti­cal con­tent focussing on main­te­nance work and trou­bleshoot­ing on the engines used by Unit­ed Rentals. It became par­tic­u­lar­ly excit­ing when BU Pow­er Sys­tems’ train­er, Klaus Buch­mann, installed faults in the engine dur­ing the trou­bleshoot­ing phase, which had to be found and rec­ti­fied by the train­ing participants.

‘Our train­ing par­tic­i­pants solved their task with fly­ing colours,’ our train­er summed up after the train­ing. And the par­tic­i­pants were also enthu­si­as­tic. Frank de Vos, Field Oper­a­tions Spe­cial­ists Pumps from Unit­ed Rentals Nether­lands, said: ‘Great train­ing! We should also bring our col­leagues from abroad to Ger­many and have them trained at BU Pow­er Sys­tems.’ And Daniel Meis­ter, tech­ni­cian at Unit­ed Rentals Ham­burg, was delight­ed: ‘Super train­ing course.’

Pio­neer diesel pumps, which Unit­ed Rentals rents out, are ide­al for numer­ous appli­ca­tions in indus­try — espe­cial­ly where an elec­tri­cal pow­er sup­ply is not avail­able. Accept­ing larg­er sol­id par­ti­cles, the pumps are ide­al for projects requir­ing the pump­ing of liq­uids such as drilling mud, sewage or con­t­a­m­i­nat­ed waste water. All pumps are equipped with exten­sive safe­ty fea­tures, such as an air shut-off valve and a spark arrester, an emer­gency stop switch and auto­mat­ic lev­el control.
